Abstract /

English:

With the explosive growth of distributed renewable energy—such as county-wide photovoltaics, industrial park microgrids, and urban PV-storage-direct-flexible systems—the active-consuming edge of modern power systems is undergoing profound transformations. Traditional centralized dispatch and control schemes struggle to manage massive, high-frequency, and heterogeneous distributed resources. Against this background, the convergence of Distributed Energy Storage Systems (DESS) and Grid-Forming (GFM) control technologies is emerging as a critical path to enhancing distribution grid flexibility, securing the intrinsic stability of edge grids, and enabling autonomous islanded operations.
Unlike centralized utility-scale GFM storage stations, distributed GFM storage technologies face unique innovative challenges:
Network Complexity: Shifting from individual device control to "swarm-based autonomous coordination" of massive assets under communication-free or weak-communication constraints;
Dynamic Heterogeneity: Coordinating GFM resources of varying dynamics and capacities, including substation storage, commercial & industrial (C&I) storage, residential PV-storage systems, and Electric Vehicles (V2G);
Security Vulnerability: Ensuring system resilience and stability against severe disturbances and cyber-attacks in weak, unbalanced, and high-impedance networks at the grid edge.
This special session focuses on the latest theoretical breakthroughs and application paths of distributed energy storage and GFM converters. Special attention will be paid to innovative topics such as "swarm intelligent autonomous control," "coordinated control of multi-source heterogeneous distributed GFM," "unbalanced control in low-voltage distribution networks," "cyber-physical security and highly resilient operation," and "data-physics dual-driven technologies." The session aims to bring together global experts in power electronics, active distribution networks, distributed storage, cyber-physical systems (CPS), and artificial intelligence to co-create cutting-edge distributed GFM solutions for next-generation, self-healing smart distribution grids.
